front sway bar bushing removal
 

Can anyone give me some advice on how to remove my front sway bar bushings? Its a '72 so the sway bar runs through the trunk. The bushings in question are the ones that go where the bar runs through the body. Since the bar is wider at the ends where the drop links attach, I can't see how these would slide off. Is there a way to separate the bracket from the bushing first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Donk, When you remove the the metal bushing cover you will see the bushing is split. It just opens up and you remove it.

thanks, but my concern was that I thought the cover and bushing had to come off together. I finally figured out that the bushing could be pushed out of the cover, making it easy to remove. Sometimes all I need to do is think a little bit.

If they are old or cracked or hard, replace them. You can put some rubber lube on to reduce sqeaking.

Thanks Randy. New bushings are in. I lubed them well. I now know why I couldn't find anything in the archives about this... cause its so damn easy.

Soon you will be using modelling clay to check the piston/valve clearance on that 12 to 1 high comp. screamer you build......
