MY 1st Porsche
I've been waiting all my life for this car. One might think it would be a let down once I had it, but it's FANTASTIC! I've been collecting cars for a long time now and I could kick myself for not doing this sooner. It's just such a great car to drive. A question-How can I make my Fuchs wheels look shiny like the Red Targa in the "reflections" thread below? I love the way that car looks, and I feel the wheel treatment would enhance the appearance of my 911. Thanks and I'm happy to be here. |

First of all welcome and congratulations on your first, hopefully it will not be your last. On your question to polishing the fuchs, most of the guys send them to Al Reed. Do a search on him in the threads. I plan on taking my rims to him real soon.

Wow.....beautiful car and welcome to pelican. I just also recently purchased my first p-car after about a year and a half of looking. From what I hear, the excitement will NEVER go away. All that I'm upset about is finding a long enough stretch of road to get over 40mph in LA! damn near impossible unless you are taking an early morning drive in the mountains.
as for the fuchs, the ones in the pic you're talking about look like they are chromed? but you can get them looking pretty good polished and shiny for less money. also give us some more details about the car....looks like a 74-77 911S and looks very clean and original! Have fun driving. -jeff

Congratulations and welcome to the board. That is a beautiful 911. I'll second (or third) the previous request(s) for more details and photos.
I'll take a tone similar to Matt's. You might want to leave them as is for awhile. You just got the car, enjoy it for awhile. Who knows, the anodized fuchs might grow on you, or your taste might change. I personally love the way it looks as is, but they would look great polished too. If you still have to have them polished in a month or so, send them to Al Reed. But remember, if you do that, you will be Porscheless for awhile unless you have a spare set of wheels lying around.

Thanks for all the positive comments. The Porsche is a 1977 Sebring White car from Arizona by way of a restoration in California and brokered here in Wisconsin. It is totally stock save for the usual upgrades on the engine rebuil 4k ago. It has 101,000 miles on it, but feels like new to me. I had some fun with a 3 series BMW (some 25+ years the 911's junior) on the highway last night. It was a short blast, but plenty to let him know that there truly is no substitute. Hey-he started it!
![]() The Volvo is a 1973 P1800ES. It's a very beautiful car, but very funky. Ergonomics is not a plyer for that car. Sadly it has been sold to make room in the garage for the 911. I'll post more pics as soon as they clear on Roadfly. |
