Weber float bowl "erosion"

Bought a set of 40 IDA Webers off a fellow pelicanite approx 4 months ago. Finally got around to kitting them this weekend. On removal of the top cover and removal of floats discovered what appears to be metal being eroded in one area of float base (looks similar to liner electrolysis in diesels). Area is small (approx 1 mm X 2mm) and has eroded perhaps 1/2 way through metal base. Question is, what can be done to arrest degeneration ? Would an epoxy adhere to, and remain affixed to the base metal in such an environment?? Appreciate any advise, Steve.

Steve, I would clean out the area of any loose corrosion then brush in a small dab of POR-15. If possible if you have any fuel tank sealent I'd put that over the top. I believe just the POR-15 will do the trick. I am also restoring a 65 911. Am getting it back from painting this week. Kevin
