Rear bumper seal
I bought one from a fellow Pelicanhead, but have never installed one before. My car hasn't had one since I've owned it and at the right angle you can see a gap below my reflector. Anybody ever installed one? I took a look at it, but it's not obvious on how it goes on. Do I need to drop the rear bumper or something? How does it stay? Thanks guys, and Merry Christmas!

From what I remember with my RSR style bumper install... the seal is mostly wedged into place. I would remove the bumper if I were you the set it in place and put it back together again. I think it uses the bumper to secure it.

I haven't done it yet, but I need to. When I was installing my new muffler I took the opportunity to remove the rear reflector (speed nuts and spacers on a 76) to check out what was involved in replacing the seal. Unfortunately, you must remove the bumper. It looked like the seal attaches to the bumper with weather strip adhesive.

I will tackle it when I have more time, then.

You need to lossen the rear reflector. The seal has adheasive on the back side. You adheare it to the underside of where the reflector fits up against. Then there are some channels under the tail lights that it slides in. Hope that helps

On 1974 911's the seal was actually three separate pieces: one under each tailight and one that spans the area under the reflector. I'm not sure if this was just on the 1974 cars, but on all the 1975 and up cars I've looked at this seal is one piece all the way across. The way parts supercession on 911's has made many original parts unavailable I bet the new seals are one piece...but this is just a guess. Doesn't seem like it would make any difference as far as function, but thought I would mention this as a point of interest.
