60k mile tune-up

I've recently purchased a 1987 targa with 61K miles.
It's due for its 60K service. I'm going to take it to a local
independent porsche shop with a good reputation. I'm
just curious as to what I should expect in terms of necessary
maintanance, and the rough expense I should be prepared for?
If anyone can let me know what is mandatory, and what is
"optional" in terms of maintanance, I'd be grateful.
I'm assuming adjusting the valves, new plugs, and oil change
at a minmum...

did you get a leakdown and compression test done when you purchased the car? If not, I would get one done.

Pending on the shop you may want to be sitting down when they give you the bill. Some shops consider things "mandatory" that others do not. For instance, has the brake/clutch fluid been completely flushed out in the last two years? How about a new fuel filter or wires? Don't forget to flush the radiator and refill with fresh Prestone (opps, wrong car).

Get a good PPI and find a friend that can teach you how to do some of this stuff yourself. You'll know its done right, you'll save a ton of money, and you get a huge grin from the satisfaction of diy! Adjust Valves/Oil Change is $5-600 alone and the diy cost me about $70.

MANDATORY - Change all the fluids and replace the rubber brake hoses.

CHECK - wheel bearings, ball joints, and all the other stuff you'd do at earlier intervals

Thanks guys,
In the future I plan to do the valve adjustment and minor tune up
stuff myself, but since the car is new to me I wanted to have a
professional service the first time. I did have a PPI (not particularly
invasive) a few months ago just before I bought the car, and the guy
said it was in great shape, but then again he didn't do a compression
or leak down test because he didn't think it was necessary.
