Hissing CIS intake
I have been trying to hunt down a little irratic idle. My car sounds like its an old mustang with carbs. So I tried raising the air plate so and the idle raised which leads me to believe that I am running rich. Anyway when I removed the intake boot I heard this air hissing sound coming from the air box. I was wondering what this could be and how I could further diagnose this problem.

I apologize its not the intake boot but the cone shaped intake that holds the air filter to the intake.

Did you try leaning the mixture slightly?

Take some carb cleaner....LIGTHLY spray near areas that might leak....change in idle you found the leak. Kep yer head out as much as possible unless you like the smell of ether....or you were a buddy of Ricahrd Pryor.....%^B

Unfortunately I do not have a gas analyzer so I have not yet taken the jump to try and adjust my mixture. I was just going to take careful notes of the amount that I am turning the mixture adjustment screw and give it a go. However it is tempting to take it to a shop. Does anyone know approximately how much it would be to have a Porsche shop do a mixture adjustment. Also I am assuming that I should have the mixture adjusted before I get it smoged. Is this correct? Thanks for your help.

Whatever the minimum is....like 1-2 hours @ the base rate....65-100/hour. Bring a bottle of Jack Daniels....be friendly.
