Help with windshield rubber seal
I have a 1984 911 that I purchased last year and noticed a bit of water in the passenger corner when washing. So I simply washed quickly and dried off so no water would come into the car. Well a trip in the rain caused a fair amont of water to come in and drip under the dash to my feet before my daughter pulled a sock off to stop.
My question is do the rubber seals shrink from hot climates (the car was from TX now in PA) and how bad $$ is the repair to replace the seal? The car is way too nice to not fix but wondering what I'm in for. Thanks.

Very common problem. A search on here will give you a number of threads on how to replace the windshield and/or rubber.

At least you don't have to tape up the car before you wash it.

I had the same problem and simply pulled back the rubber seal with a putty knife and put in some silcone sealent...no more leaking.
This week end I will be putting a C2 dash so will have to remove the windshield and replace the rubber seal. Wayne has a good discussion in the 101 Porsche projects book Guy Chiattello 82SC Black Coupe |

Thanks for the replies. I did search (should have done that first) and saw some other good posts on the seal topic.
This BBS is a great resource. Thanks again.
