Blackbird 225 - I have checked my valve guides and they looks great, so it is either the feet or the problem you have. It drives me absolutely nuts. Does the cam lobe / rocker problem noise happen when cold too or just when warm?

Only when hot... Sounds quite nice when cold. I was told that worn valve guides equal more eradic ticking ( every other time, etc) and oil consumption. Mine ticks loud eveytime that cam taps that rocker. I'm nearly certain of it. I don't have oil consumption problems.

I had the same problem as black bird in my SC 3.0. The exhaust side (lower) bank 1,2 cyl area. I replaced the rockers, shafts, seals, elephant feet adj. for all 3 lower. The whole deal and it was quiet all the time for a little while and is quiet when cold currently. It's not bad except it seems that because its on the drivers side lower your stuck listening to it when it warms up some. Mine has cleared up but, seems louder than other cars and louder than the right side lower.

That is the same side I have a problem with, drivers side lower. The new parts didn't help much harold?

I swear its always that side. My new rocker did nothing really...

Assuming the ticking noise is not the valve guide, is this something to worry about? My car does this too, but I haven't really worried about it too much.

Sounds like a good excuse to get some more HP with new cams to me...

You guys are reading my mind, what good street cams would you go with for an 87, 3.2?

IT's just about the same as it was now.. it sounded better for about 4 months but not totally gone but, now...uuugggghhhh..... Yeah thats the side the cat converter (or test pipe and cross over by now) are on and gets the hottest. I think thats what creates more wear on that side.

I dunno, my car has old skool heat exchangers, and no difference between two sides. The only thing I could think of is its further away from the oil cooler.. Thats a stretch though...
