Polybronze ENDPLAY?
I have quite a lot of side / end play when I test fitted my Elephant Racing spring plate bushings into the car last night. I'm using the spacer washers supplied. The spring plates move in and out freely. As well as up and down.
The side play looks like it could be minimized by not using the spacer washers. I can see the races when I push the spring plate all the way in, or out. About a 1/4"can be seen. Looks like a lot of dirt can get in there. I assume the torsion bar keeps it from moving in or out. But I can see the conical parts of the races. Skip the spacers and forego the directions? It just doesn't seem like the suspension should have this spring plate side play. Got to say that the rest of the assembly is good! Thanks, Lee 78sc |

The important thing is your spring plates should move freely. Lateral play should be around .5-1.5 mm. Visibility of the end of the race is not an indicator of lateral play, you need to push the spring plate in and out to observe the movement. I suggest you contact me directly with support questions. though I am a frequent contributor to this board, I may not see a given posting in a timely fashion - or at all.

Thanks for the follow up Chuck.
After I spoke to you I got some ss washers from Lowes that were 1mm thick. These worked great on the left side to give me about 1.5mm lateral play. I tried the same for the right side and I was too tight! No play,no drop. I switched the stock 2mm thick washers for the spacers and used the ss washers for the outside under the bolt heads. This gave me the lateral play of about 1.5mm for that side too. It just shows how variable the cars are. The cost for the extra fitting finessing amounted to $3.50. Not bad! Thanks!

Actually, if you slide the plate on with no washers you can easily determine how much (or many) washers are needed to be added at each spot by measuring the gap between the body and the plate. I went to 0 clearance, measured the gap and then added one additional thin washer and it works extremely smooth. I'm quite happy with the bushings.

Just got it all hand tightened back together and set each side to 35 degrees. I got the angles perfect and the same on each side-not too difficult. Used the angle calculator based on 24.1mm stock bars and 3.6 droop. Just a tad lower than Eurospec I hope.
Paul, that's a great Idea I wish I had thought of! This will help others. Thanks. Lee78SC
