I am over near Milledgeville. :)

I think I may be dropping an engine sooner than anticipated. I am loosing oil ALOT quicker than I realised.

Oh well, nothing to do but to do it and carry forth. When its running right with the top out on a cool night like we have been having in middle georgia, its worth it.

Any info on the PCA here?

Eli

Thanks :)

Well last night I had a sickening feeling when I heard the engine making a slight hissing sound when rolling it over. Kind of like a vw engine when something has went wrong with studs and/or heads. Insert scooby doo uh oh here. The sound seemed to be coming from underneath and getting worse (i could hear it while running). My midrange miss was getting worse as well. So I shut it down not wanting to make anything worse and went at an inspection today after it cooled. I looked underneath and couldnt see anything (I was thinking studs pulling and manifesting themselves in a bad way) So I drained oil and pulled exhaust valve covers. No studs lying broken and none _looked_ out of place. Hrrm. Reassembled everything (gaskets didnt break apart and were soft so I reused them (yes yes I hear you cringing out there but new ones are in the works as part of the put it on an oil diet plan)) and actually tightened the nuts this time. Followed spec in the book. (being that I unscrewed a couple with JUST my fingers, that side HAS to leak less). I hadn't found anything. :( Then something occurred to me, the maintence log had new plugs installed less than a thousand miles ago. So I checked tightness on those and ta da number 6 plug I screwed out by hand. Everything tightened down and reassembled refilled and it runs very well and I can hear the exhaust leaks from the air injection tubes. But the miss is gone :D

Interesting.

I've been told to use spark plug wire pullers so as not to damage the wires. If you notice similar problems again without the hiss, changing wires maybe in order.
