Up-Fixin Woth While?

I need to pay for my PCA membership and along with the renewal notice I have the option of picking up some of the Up-Fixin manuals. I'm thinking about volume VII covering1984-1986. Is it worth the $16 and do I need it?

1. Yes - that is 5 lattes.

2. No.

John, I have it and your welcome to check it out. It really doesn't have that much useful information other then answers to many old questions, ones you've already heard.

I bought one for some technical information about a project I was doing (can't remember which one) & it was worthless. Waynes books & the Bentley manual are all well worth the money.

Sure, it's out of date but how much other worthless PCar "memorabilia" (i.e. crap) do you have?

I think it's worth $16. Of course, I have an old car ('73) so that may affect things.

I agree re Bentley & 101 projects & Bruce A's book.

I occasionally look at mine when a problem arises and 98 percent of time find that the question isn't answered. The two percent of the time it is, it's answered in far less detail and currency than you'd get simply by posting a query on this BB. As far as I'm concerned, they're charming artifacts but not of much value. Sort of like the Q&As in Panorama. (Who can afford to wait three months for an A to a Q? Don't they have computers, or at least secretaries or children who do?)

Before this forum was available it was well worth every penny and is still good to have around! Some of the troubleshooting info in the books is still excellent. I have A/C and heating diagrams out of Up Fixing that I still use today and have not seen anywhere else.

These days we can post a "help" message and chances are that someone will reply and tell you exactly how to fix the problem. A few years ago we did not have this option.

Personally I would get the books that are a few years newer than your model car. It usually took a few years before any issues popped up and were covered in Up Fixing.
