Porsche decal...yes or no?

In this thread...

Pics of 964 with Duck tail?

notice the large-ish Porsche crest decal used on the door of the red car with ducktail. I have the same crest, and was wondering how it would look in a position slightly forward on the fender, slightly below and behind the gas cap...I hand-held this on my metallic silver car and the close-up effect is stunning againsta silver backdrop. However, it might be a bit "much" once it's installed and seen everyday.

Installed like a Ferrari crest on a 63 250 GTO.....

Too much?....OT?

Nah, it'll look cool in either place, though rear view mirrors might obscure it when placed nearby. I'd probably like the positioning under the gas cap, personally. What model 911 are you thinking of putting this on?

Is yours the same style as the one you are pointing out or is it the older style, 4 or 5 color crest? I think I prefer the retro look of the older crest.

I'd agree with yellowbird. Saw a stunning red 951 with those decals, looked very nice.

Either decals or a strip -- but not both.

Have you guys applied decals to a piece of magnetic material so it can be easily removed or relocated? If so, have you also lost that decal while driving?

I would like some decals but thought it would be convenient to be able to move them around.

Or am I over-engineering the whole thing?

It is not possible to over-engineer anything that relates to a Porsche.

Paul491 does this. We met up to go to the
German autofest and he had a few decals on magnetic vinyl he would put on his 911.
I don't think he lost any.

Put it on with a piece of tape and see how you like it. If it works, stick it on. If not, pull if off.

By all means, do the magnetic sheet thing. It won't come off, and you can change the logo. I have a friend with a silver boxter who does it with the Mobil "flying horse" from the 50's-slicker'n coon crap on a hot tin roof.

LOL.

IMO stick with stock. I agree with N11Porsche.

Also IMO: you shouldn't give a rip about my opinion-do what looks best to you.

Keep the crest decal where it belongs - on the toolbox.
