Talking shipping fenders

I am looking to sell the fenders hood and tail from my car.
What is the best way to ship them, keeping in mind they are not in prestine shape and will not be sold for a lot?

Greyhound bus is the only affordable way to do it. The problem is that the fenders exceed the maximum total dimensions allowed by most normal delivery services.

That's what I've been running into. I just wanted a ball park figure before I posted them.

You can't get a 'ballpark' untill you know how far they go. I shipped a definately oversize whaletail to SanFran from Long Beach by GH for $20. I got a ducktail back UPS in a slightly smaller box that apparently made it under the max meas and it was $35. I got a roll bar from New England on GH and I think it was near $50.

You pay by the mile and the pound no matter who you use. GH is just better for oversize and is cheaper for sure on that. Plus, it's fast within the state. Just hours, usually.

Cool

When I have shipped wheels and tires, I have used Greyhound. I like them for oversized pieces that they can get into the luggage bay on those crusers.

Just shipped a pair of fenders within the last 2 weeks. I wrapped them in about 30yrds of bubblewrap and shipped them Greyhound. Shipped one to South Carolina and the other to Chicago. Both arrived within 48hrs with no damage and cost about $50 to ship. Greyhound is very tough to beat on large items like this.

Not so Milt. Many of the major shipping companies have maximum linear dimension requirements (you add length, width, depth) beyond which they will not ship, regardless of weight. I found this out the hard way when I purchased a fender on ebay that was in PA.

I had a fender shipped via Greyhound from Florida to So. Cal. last year. It was covered with cardboard held together with shipping tape. Cost was $42. As I understood it, Greyhound ships items like this on a standby basis according to whether there is room or not. Even at that, it only took about 5 days.

I have taken Turbo fenders boxed in cardboard (homemade box) to UPS, and they told me they won't ship them due to oversize) I have also taken fenders wrapped in bubblewrap to UPS and they would ship after I explained that they were used, and in need of minor bodywork any way. The part is light, they can usually stack them on top.

YOu can also try Amtrak if you have a station near you. They will ship items larger and heavier than Greyhound will take. Reasonable prices too.

I've had 911 fenders send to me via Fedex Oversized.

I have also sent running boards via Greyhound. If getting to a terminal isn't a problem then that's the way to go....Fast anbd cheap.
Oh, and the recipient has to go a bus terminal as well to pick up.

I had a driver's fender shipped across the country to me via Greyhound. While the part was not packaged properly, the damage imposed was bad enough, that even if better protected, I believe it still would have been ruined. When packaging, assume a gorilla is loading/unloading your stuff. Good luck
