Thank you -

I'm going for this look

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1092776834.jpg

Since my car is in the body shop and my current wheels were cromed many years ago by the PO, and look "not so good" right now.

I was thinking I wanted to try something a little different by going all black with just a polsihed outermost rim for an "updated euro" look. But after seeing some BLACKED out Fuch's and the one above in comparison, I had to go with the natural color ones.

Any thoughts?

Hi Rubber ! Those natural Fuchs look stunning, and the anodized finish looks more "correct". I had Al and Diane do a set for me as well, but polished lips. As good as they look with body color centers, I still think the anodized finish looks more correct. Those folks do great work at fair prices (and are just great people too !) I think that you will be very happy with the all natural choice. Doug

Al is aware of his internet celebrity, yet resists the temptation to read his own good reviews. Talent and humility in one package. Here's to Al! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/beerchug.gif

Al did these dual-anodized wheels for me. Spendy and took a few weeks but beautiful. You will not be disappointed.

Gary - Concidering the options i.e Fikse - Kenises <spell check, I think we are fortunate to be able to have a wheel from the factory worth customising to our own likeing.

Fuch's ROCK!

arcsine 08-17-2004 01:57 PM

Some Kinesis and Fikse are very nice I think but you cannot beat the look/function/ability to personalize Fuchs.

Jim Chambers 08-17-2004 02:14 PM

A little more detail please Gary. What size are those wheels? Exacty what do you mean by "dual anodize"? They look fantastic.

arcsine 08-17-2004 02:22 PM

Thanks, I thought they worked well. The wheels are 7&8" x 16". The dual anodizing was a clear anodizing on the rim and a satin anodizing on the centers. It is a little different from the wheel shown by BRJ above. That wheel looks to have clear on the rim and petal tops and satin on the petal background.

Keep calling. They dedicate certain days (or half days) to doing nothing but getting wheels done. This is necessary to keep up with the workload and get the wheels back to the customer as fast as possible.

During those days they rarely answer phones. You need to get them at a time when they are in the office.
They don't do computers at all.
Believe me, the patience is worth it.

Carrera3.5L 08-17-2004 07:25 PM

When I dropped off and picked up my wheels, Al told me he purposely takes the phone off the hook for hours at a time. If you see his "office", you will be hard pressed to believe that he can even find his phone. How he ever finds anything is beyond me.

Just drive on over there one day. HB isn't too far away, about a half hour or so if the 55 isn't congested.

He's right next to a topless club, you can kill two birds with one stone!

Ralph

P.S. - He's a fair amount cheaper than Robert Wood/Wheel Enhancement, and in fact used to do Wheel Enhancement's wheels as everything they do there is apparently outsourced. They stopped sending him there jobs after he got "discovered" and they got upset that the middle man was being cut out.

Got a call back today just before 5 and set up plans for exchange next week

Shameless Al Reed plug.

Al is 1st class. Here's some RSR like anodizing work from Mr. Reed. 4 wheels polished and refinished like this one shipped for less than $600.
