907 Restoration Pics

I was cleaning out some old photos, came across these and thought some of you might like to see them.

I've never seen horn "trumpets" like that. Is there a story behind those? Just on this model, or on all the 907s?

Thanks for the images.

The horn trumpets were used on Targa Florio cars....a 44 mile/lap ( ! ) road circuit in southern-most Italy. Immortalized by Vic Elford's famous drive-from-behind win in (?) 1968.

If I'm not mistaken....the #224 w/ trumpets and 907 type...in the photos...may be indeed Vic's car restored. Anyone confirm ?

The shop is in the Columbus area.

Can’t remember the deal on the horns I think they where on the original, so they where just kept.

Don't think it was that car. Can't recall the specifics..

Neat ... thanks for sharing. Any info on the current status of the car (ie., is it running in vintage races or just part of a collection)?

Just curious, but any idea what the chasis off to the right is in the 4th picture? I can't quite make it out.

It looks like the tub of an open sports racer with an injected V8 -- so my guess is some sort of CanAm car. A 69 or 70 McLaren based on the profile of the tub maybe???

The other car in the photo is a Gulf Mirage Cosworth.
The 907 went to Europe so I don’t know if it is being raced or not.

I thought my recollection of Vic Elford's '68 Targa win is correct... along with #224.

See here....

Hmmm, interesting. Well like I said, can’t say for sure that is the same car but if it was, I did not realize what I was working on at the time...
Thanks for the info..
