I am interested in the strip down. I understand the AAV but where is the AAR? My Bosch manual does not show it or has a different name for it?

If you 3L is earlier try http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/1978-83/1-7-2.JPG AAV is item 39. AAR is36. That is diagram 1/7/2. For a later SC try diagram 1/7/3. |
Thanks Paul.
Any body got a picture how this looks removed? echris if you took a shot while out of the car that would be ideal, I want to see how/where everything is plugged/capped |
You could use the AAV (or decel valve) in place of the AAR. I was thinking of trying it but then my cold start would idle really low.

Question about the WUR.
I'm still trying to figure things out, however after much tweaking of the mixture and playing with timing I got the idle closer. My dilemma now is cold starting. Here's my question. Does the WUR gradually lean out as the car is warming up? Or is it really a abrupt and sudden change? Here's why I ask. I think my cold pressure it too low and that the car is massively rich when cold. It cranks and cranks and cranks and when it finally catches there's a strong smell of gas and it even spits some out the tailpipes. Once running it idles with the hand throttle but runs very rough for about two minutes but then at a certain point it changes dramatically, smooths out, idle picks up and runs beautifully. This is what I believe to be when the WUR has leaned out the mixuture and it is then running properly. It's the cranking to get it started that puzzles me. Why would continued cranking (probably 30 seconds) that gets it to start? I've tried manually firing the CSV and defeating it all togehter and neither way seems to make a difference. I guess I need to invest in the CIS gauges, but am eager to hear any thoughts. chris |
I found the Warm-up Regulator characteristics in the Bosch K-Jetronic Technical Instruction pamphlet. The pamphlet does not talk specifically about the Auxillary Air Regulator, but does talk about the need for additional air when the engine is in the cold state due to the increased friction under colder operating temperatures.

I replaced the fuel accumulator. That along with re-adjusting the idle and mixture has made me a very happy man.
