Help tumbler fell out of the door handle.
I have an 86 Carrera w/electric locks and the tumbler came out with the key.
Here's a pic of the tumbler. I found a second loose part in the door, kind of a small barrel with a slot in it? Does this attach to the threaded end of the tumbler? Anyone have a pic of what is correct and what parts I need to get to reassemble it? Thank you. ![]() |

I am not completely famililar with the p-car tumbler but most tumblers have a sort of cam either threaded on or attached with screws.
The cam has a finger that turns with the key and activates/deactivates the lock. I am sure someone will know specifics to the p-car lock though.

There is a arm that is held on with a screw. Look in the bottom of the door and you will probably find both. Don't pull your key out of the tumbler or you might have a mess on your hands.

Yes, there is a screw that holds the cylinder to the rest of the mechanism. You can probably see a good picture of it in the 101 projects book. The tumblers are spring loaded so don't pull the key out without holding them in or they will pop out.

Don't pull the key.
Look for the pieces that are mentioned. I believe that there may be an article on this website about rekeying the locks. It may have an exploded view of what you need to be looking at. David Duffield |
