Lightbulb 911 Office Chair

For lack of a Porsche furniture forum I decided to post this here. I always wanted one of those cool Recaro office seats but could not justify the cost.

After I replaced my old factory SC seats with SRDs I had a couple of spare seats left and happened to need a desk chair. I went to an office supply store and bought a cheap rolling chair with stained fabric for $10. Then I discarded the chair part and kept the rollaround base. I was in a hurry so I cut a couple of 2x4's and bought some cheap hardware to bolt my seat(with adjusting rails) to the 2x4s and the 2x4s to the seat base. I know it's kind of ugly, but it's comfortable and cheap. Here's a pic:

The fore/aft movement of the rails adjusts the force needed to lean back. I thought I would get around to painting the wood pieces, replacing them with a metal adapter, and repairing the tears in the seats but never did. It's great for playing Need For Speed : Porsche Unleashed. It somehow makes the game more natural...... I will be putting both of these seats into my 1972 Targa (sold the original ones to finance another motor) but plan to build me another office chair like this in the future.

Rob

You have the right idea -- now just replace all the wood with titanium and CF.

Looks like a great idea, I have an extra seat out of my SC in storage waiting to be put together for my home office/pelican position.

I think it needs an old out of date Simpson (or other) lap belt.
