Ouch. That will take some value off that car. Could be a good deal in the making for someone that wants a GT for a driver as opposed to a collector car.

Well, the Cal customer took delivery of his new half million dollar Porsche Carrera GT last nite, drove it about 2 miles with the shop foreman in the right seat. On his way back to the dealership some guy in a 3/4 ton plumbers truck nail him at a stop light. No one was hurt, but not any happy faces there. The car may have to go back to the fatherland for repair, depending on how damaged the carbon fiber chassis is. And to top it off it appears that the driver of the truck may not have his insurance with Geico paid up to date. Not good.

That's almost worth shooting somebody.
Insurance probable wouldn't have covered the entire cost of repair anyway.

I wasn't prepared for that kind of carnage. My heart almost stopped when I saw the picture.
I can just imagine the truck driver scratching his head trying to communicate with the two livid individuals who just stepped out of the car that cost more than he will make in the next 10 years.... "uhh... jeez.... uhh... I was just staring so hard at all the other half-million dollar cars on the street that I just...uhh... happened to not see yours right in front of me ... uhh... so you guys want to swap info? I know a guy who might be able to fix that up on the cheap... we can keep the insurance companies out of this." Mike |

What's always in the back of my mind is people that drive around like maniacs in affluent areas. Most probably have the minimal insurance as mandated by the state. What is it $25k of liability in California. If they just bounce off a car or two, seems easy to exceed their policy limits and then the poor owner's insurance ends up eating the balance???
Are we better off driving car that don't exceed $25k? Tinker |

At least it could have happened to the guy who just bought three (yes 3) Carrera GT's from Houston Advantage Porsche. I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone but at least he'd have two others as drivers.

But, it's gotten worse than that. Around here, gunfire is so common after dark and inocents are getting wounded or killed right and left. One a day in Long Beach. Buying a GT is insane unless you live somewhere decent. |
