replace a cracked cat
My PPI showed a cracked cat, but since it’s a '77 I don’t need to meet emissions, or have a converter at all in this car. Co-worker Porsche owner recommended a pre-muffler. that doesn’t sound like a bad idea, but wondering if there are other opinions out there.
In the meantime - is this something I would notice? There is a bit of an exhaust odor in the car (and/or I’m a paranoid hypochondriac). |
Appaerantly you are a paranoid hypochondriac, kidding!
If I no longer had to pass emissions I would have replaced my cat long ago. Being the p-word that I am. I have only recently ordered the euro pre-cat bypass to attempt to pass the visual part of the emissions test. Praying the car passes the rest, I don't think it should be too big of an issue. I may have to put the 24 year old cat back on. If I were you, and didn't have to pass emissions, I would rid myself of the cat with a test pipe or better yet a new set of headers and sport exhaust. is this the $134 solution? http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/new_images3/catbypass-late.JPG
will it improve my HP much? What about my (imaginary?) smell? |
I would of done the $134 solution long ago..(If I didn't have to do emissions).
If you are free and clear, do it, make the P-Car faster and enjoy! You've spent to much time thinking about it! Like I did!!! If you're thinking about it, you'll end up with it on the P-machine MM |
Improvement of HP...yes.
might be a few, not noticible, but as long as you think it will, as I think, it will make you faster in the times. A free flowing can only help! MM |
