Here is the tool I made to replace my oil pressure sender on my 3.2. I made it out of 1/4" hard plate, made it to fit on four sides of the sender nut exactly, I left the area where I made the 3/8 drive hole extra beefy, but finished the angles so it would clear belts, brackets, etc. It locks onto the extension so it won't fall off. I took me a little bit of time and effort, but it worked flawlessly when I replaced mine, and worked great when having to torque the sender to specs.

cool...great work. I just used a 17mm CRAFTSMAN crowfoot wrench when I changed senders.

You did a nice job on the custom tool. I'm afraid that it would not have worked on my car as the old sender was in the mounting block so tight that I had to remove the block and sender as a unit, put them in a bench vise and use major torque to separate them. When the sender did finally come loose, it made a loud pop!

Hi Fred, I had to do that also, after I made the tool, I found the torque required to break it loose, would have probably broken the thru bolt off in the engine block, so I did remove all the stuff to get to it so I would not damage anything. I did use it to remove the sender from the mount block and then to torque it to specs. When I broke it loose from the mount block it also made a loud snap, could tell it was going to stay put until some serious torque was applied. The main reason I made it was because, none of my regular crow-foot wrenches would fit right, on or off the car, too thick, too wide, or too long from where the drive to the wrench part is.

if the tool works with minor effort, then fine, but most are real frikken tight, and you stand a chance of doing serious damage to the threads in the case, (especially soft magnesium cases) or breaking the hollow fitting.

3.2 Cab,
Very nice job on the sender tool. I also purchased a craftsman crowfoot in SAE, though I forget the size at the moment. It converted out to the metric eqivalent nearly exact. I did have to take the AC compressor, bracket and othe assorted pieces out om my 84 3.2 to get the job done. regards, Steve

Hi Steve,I had to take all the crap loose, a/c compressor, a/c comp. mounting bracket, which made the removal of the muffler and the other brackets needed. I tried it first without taking anything loose... but I was watching the oil feed line for movement, and I could see that it was moving a just a little, when I was trying to loosen the sender, so I stopped, then took all the other stuff off, was a real ***** to get the muffler to cat bolts out. Then I found out that the bracket pn #91111319600 had the short ear broken off! It is really good stainless steel, just a flex crack because one of the other cat cover mount bolts was too long and was touching the cat.... to much heat it caused a crack there which lead to another which lead to this one getting cracked... and so the story go on and on...I ordered a new cat to muffler gasket, i bought a spool of 308 wire and migged the bracket. It has been 2 1/2 weeks, now thw P-dealer tells me the gasket pn#91111119101 will have to come from Germany!!!!!!!!!!!! $20.00 shipping for a 2 dollar gasket. O-well, I am going to fix me a white russian (several) and jump in the hot tub, and I will think about this crap later on!!!!!! To all, thanks for the comments, you too JW.

Nice work 3.2 CAB. I was able to change mine out with a liberally ground Craftsman Crow's Foot wrench. I did not have to remove anything to get it done either. But, I feel lucky not to have broken or stripped anything. It was really in there tight and came loose with a bang!
