Tach problems
I have an 89 911. The tach quit working. I pulled the tach everything looks plugged in, however there are other wires behind my gauges hanging there loose. The car in unmolested with only 11000 original miles. So I doubt anyone has messed with the wiring. Any help on the tach would be appreciated. Also, just completed my first valve adjustment, thanks to all who answered my questions, and built up my confidence.

Can you post a picture of the wires and tach back side, while plugged in?
If it's toast, I had a good experience with North Hollywood Tach and Clock. regards, Steve |
Maybe your connections are just oxidized. Try cleaning and recrimping.
Is there a fuse for the tach? |
"I had a good experience with North Hollywood Tach and Clock.
regards, Steve" You might call Pelican next time as they have many sources for rebuilt parts. |
I don't have a digital camera to take a picture. I didn't see any inline fuses. All the wires look clean with good contact. ?????????

The tach wire on a 3.2 goes to pin 21 on the DME unit. Use an ohmmeter to check
for continuity. Then check for ground and +12 volts on the other pins of the tach. |
