Porsche Crest Battery relocate-

Hi everyone, I just did this job and am looking for opinions from those who have done it also.
The wood board is there just to seperate the stuff from the steering arm, I might take it back out.
I had to solder the positive cables together, then wrap with tape, but am thinking there might be a better solution???

Cleaner trunk now:

Maybe you had this in mind...but I cringe when I see the red/hot lead so close to body-work. Lots of protection is required here...and personally, I would like some more air space between the hot post and ground...just in case things shift around or there is an accident that "pushes" this sheet metal onto the hot post.

Porsche Crest

I see what you mean.
Maybe a plexiglass sheet on that side of the battery as well?
The battery is down tight, but if it got hit pushing the bodywork into the positive lead, it would be bad.

Perhaps I missed this in an earlier thread... but what is the reason for the battery move? I thought Porsche placed the battery as far forward as (practically) possible to help offset the rear weight bias on the 911.

rickeolis,

Nice project

You can get a + terminal with a screw on connection for the cable.
Try to find one with a protective cap.
I also recommend placing a fuse as close as possible to the positive battery post. I did this on one car when I moved the battery.
Both are available from a car audio shop.
They will also know the amp rating for the fuse (I don't remember).

Thanks Ove-

MAS- I am shedding as much weight off my car as possible altogether. I've gutted my interior, removed ALL of the A\C system, installed lightweight racing seats and more, and this is one more step on the way to my ultimate goal of 456lbs! (Give or take 1900lbs...)

This winter I plan to replace my heavy @$$ bumpers with lighter ones, and considering certain fiberglass panels too.
I am aware of the balance when removing weight too, but one step at a time...

I'll replace the smuggler's box cover with a plastic one soon as well, some guys remove them, but I want protection for the battery.

I had thought of that also Eric, but as you know I use the old AC blower to push air into the cabin at the track...I will not budge on that! LOL Nice project and with some tweeks as mentioned above it should be safe and a clean install.
