Where to rebuild cylinder heads?

Where is the least-expensive place to rebuild cyl heads, that still does a quality job? Preferably a place in LA. to eliminate shipping charges. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about cheapest but then cheap usually isn't cheap. One of the best Porsche machine shops anywhere is Otto's in Santa Ana. Quite a few Porsche shops use them and I have never heard anything except how good they are.

I do have to add that I was shocked at how cheap it is to get heads machined for twin plug.

Competition Engineering in Bodfish Calif is great bang for the buck.

I guess you can do a quickie job at the local auto machine shops. And the border is pretty close. They're also giving great deals on eye surgery down there I believe.

EMS (engine machin service) in Santa Monica or Venice, anyway, it's on the Westside. Not to be confused with EBS (engine builder's supply) in Reno.

EMS might be able to get them out before you have too many more birthdays as well.

Ollie's. George & Ike have been there for over 25 years and know their stuff. Andial, Vision Motorsports and a whole host of others use them. They're just down the street from the O.C. Register building off Grand.

Someone could probably make a lot of $$ by locating over the border in Mexico to serve SoCal - the rent would be low, and one could find some trained machinists or have some commute across for the higher skill levels. The labor rates would be low overall, and trucks go across the border with impunity now.

And maybe someone already has -- you might want to look around and see ....
