Looking for Boston pick 'n pull
I will be in the Boston area on Friday to attend the East Coast Ramble, and I will have a little time to visit a pick 'n pull to find parts for an ignition project.
Can anyone recommend a friendly salvage yard in the greater Boston area that I could visit ? Thanks Michel Richard |

I want to do an ignition project, and I will need basic Ford and GM parts. I'm not looking for Porsche parts, althought they would end up in my P-car.
No biggie, it's simply because I will be in the Boston area on a car-related trip and will have few hours. Michel |

The biggest and best "pick 'n pull" that I know of in the area for mass market cars (non-Porsche) is Burlington Used Auto Parts on 127 Hazen Road in Shirley. They have an absolutely HUGE lot of cars, easily many acres of stuff. I don't know how many hours you have in the Boston area, but Shirley is about 45 minutes to an hour NW of the city off of Route 2. It's not much more then a stone's throw from Devens where a lot of folks Auto-X.
Dickster, I'm sorry but most of the the businesses that you were thinking of left town for NYC after the Democratic convention.

burlington used auto parts?
Does burlington used auto parts allow you to wander their yard and pull things yourself, or is it a "front desk" only operation?
Thanks, Vin |

I don't think you can wander at Burlington. Greenleaf is the other one in Shirley where you can wander if you want. I also think they are friendler and have better cond. cars.

The one thing they most likely won't let you do is take the parts off the car yourself. They have specific ways that they remove components so as to preserve the wiring loom and other parts. The last thing that they want is for someone to pull a dash board forexample and cut all of the plugs off. Like in all things, it depends on how busy they are and how nicely you ask them.
