What would you do????
OK folks, she's going under the knife.
I am yanking the engine and replacing the clutch. While the engine is out there are a million "nice to do" things to work on. I would love to hear what you guys recommend. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093396364.jpg |
keep the car away from the young hockey players!!!
|
Hockey players can be puckin' rough on a car! I would start with the leaks depending on cash flow.
|
get some real fuchs alloys! (if they are real, the mask job on the black backgrounds/ spokes are off) Backdate her into an early car, lower it a little, lose the tail- or just leave it as is- they are tons of fun
|
accidently install a 3.6??
Chris |
The fuchs are real...I have owned the car for only a year and there are several things that need to be fixed...they have been repaited (by a toddler I think)

Replace your fuel lines!

But, that's not what the question is about, is it? You want to know what to do while inside the engine bay and working on the engine itself? I would say detail/paint the engine bay and get a new sound pad. Makes a world of difference when you look in there. BTW, I picked up some Fuchs 15 x 7 and 15 x 8 today somewhere north of TRE. The guy was stupid enough to think that he could put one fake in the mix and I wouldn't notice. The first thing I noticed was the lip and the soft curve into the dish. Those look real to me from that standpoint. But, the fake today had the narrow petal at the hub. That mask job makes the wheels look like the fakes. Need more shiny petal (spoke) with the paint line well around on the side of the spoke. Just get the sound pad and don't listen to us. ;) |
use the search engine to find the many posts on detailing the engine bay, sound pad & etc.
if really bad, repaint now use some Wurth rubber care or similar on the electric wires & make sure they are rotting away. consider replacing the deck shocks torque the shocks and banana arm mounts now that they are easy to get to. take a pic of yourself standing in the engine bay.... |
bumpers, h4's, 3.6, bumper oil cooler, replace oil and fuel lines, re-paint. have fun and prepare yor Amex

At a minimum:
Clean/repaint the engine bay. Replace the sound pad if it is bad. Send all painted parts (engine tin, engine crossbar, etc. etc.) out to be powdercoated. Replace all the senders/seals/gaskets that you can get to. Clean up the engine and trans as best possible. To go a little further: Send all the hardware bits out to be stripped cad/zinc plated. Have the exhaust sandblasted and repaint with VHT factory grey from Stoddards. |
Replace the following seals:
- Oil presure sender - Internal thermostat - internal oil cooler Inspect the CIS boot, replace as needed Replace all vacum hoses behind the CIS install a pop off valve adjust valves Clean, Clean then Clean some more |
