Has anyone heard of, or know of a repair shop named Auto Europe slightly North of Atlanta Georgia? A 993 I am considering for purchase has done a valve job, rings, clutch, and a number of other less extensive repairs on it and I'd like to know all I can learn before I fly down to Atlanta to look at it and prepare for a PPI. Good reco's for PPI in North Atlanta or Roswell, GA area?

Yes, I know Auto Europe as I use them for my '87. Martin' Altolaguirre owns the shop and works on the pcars. He's always done right by me and steered me clear of some before I got my '87. Auto Europe is actually in Atlanta (south of Buckhead if you know Atlanta).
Shops north of town are Jack Lewis Enterprises, Performance Imports and International Performance. I am sure others will chime in on their experiences. |

Thanks Stacy,
Good to know that it's a reputable shop. The wrench I was referred to to talk about this car was Martin. I will have to give him a call and find out the 'skinny' on this car. Who would you recommend for a PPI (other than Auto Europe)? You can't be too careful on a purchase of this magnitude. Also, who would you recommend for a 'body analysis' to ensure that it hasn't been crunched by a former owner?

Yes, I know of Auto Europe as well. Very good rep.
Jack Lewis Enterprises and Performance Imports are both good places to possibly use for ppi. Like Freeman said Auto Europe is in Atlanta (in the city) Performance Imports (just north of 285, off peachtree industrial blvd.) and International performance center (off roswell rd. in Roswell) Jack Lewis - Norcross

Joe, I have been fortunate enough never to need a bodyshop, but Buckhead Collission is just up the street from Auto Europe, and they always seem to have a lot of high end cars in the parking lot, Benz, Pcar, Rolls, etc. Maybe Martin' or some of the other shops can give you a rec.
On the PPI give Kerry Singley at International Performance and Bob Sanderson at Performance Imports a call. Both shops are active in PCA, racing, DEs, etc. Just a matter of who you talk to and are comfortable with. I'm sure the evening ATL crowd will be glad to share their thoughts as well. |

Bob or Kerry would be my suggestion. Bob's shop is just outside 285 so it's closer to downtown.

Okay guys, thanks for the information about these guys. Anyone have the numbers handy?
Now for the meat..... how do I go about arranging a PPI? Just call Bob or Kerry and say I would like a PPI on said vehicle and have them arrange it with the owner? Joe

i have always been under the impression that auto europe was mainly bmw's with some p car work.
anyhow, buckhead collision is across the street. considering i am personal friends with the owner, you might or might not want to give them a call 404 873 4071. ask for noman, he owns the joint. they specialize in collision repair of high end autos and don't know if they would be interested or want the liability of looking over a car just for previous collision work inspection. imho, your best bet is always to take it to a shop that can provide a FRESH perspective of the car and then maybe inquire as to the work done at the other shop directly. |

ohenryinatlanta,
Not exactly sure I catch your entire take on this. Are you saying take it to a totally different wrench to have a complete PPI done and then ask them if the first wrench did the work? I was considering having an independent shop do the PPI mechanically and then a good body shop check for any collision/paint work done previously. Is that what you meant?

DonE,
Probably not the way to endear yourself to someone. big bald freak....LOL. After I receive the fax of the invoices I will give them a call and make arrangements. What does a thorough PPI normally cost? Joe

sorta. i meant to convey that i would rather take the car to a completely diff shop to evaluate it. imho, they would have a fresh look at it and unbiased as to what it might need and quality of work performed (that can be seen).
then call up auto europe with any questions that may arise relating to their previous work on the car. for example, if you took it to performance imports they could look it over and give the car an A+ but really would have no specific value on say the valve guides work, etc. you could then call auto europe and quiz them on their work...... |
