Here is a pic of the 2 models. Nevermind for the moment that one is a Sport. The housings are the same, AFIK. The yellow Sport fits boge, but can fit the Koni strut with a special gland nut. The red is for the Koni strut, won't fit the Boge because it doesn't have the 'stump,' as we are calling it. The yellow is 1/8' longer overall.

I'm begining to wonder about the gland nut you have. Maybe it got traded out for something else at some point. Can you show a pic of both sides of the nut? I will get one out tomorrow and compare. If there is a difference, I will post pics of mine.

Sorry, Milt - You're losing me a little.

As you said, mine looks just like the yellow one above, only red. Are you talking about the "gland" nut as the collet that screws into the middle of the strut below the shaft?

Success! I've gotta say, the improvement on-road is simply amazing.

I guess you never know just how bad the old shocks are until you replace them. :)

Thanks to all for the support!

hold on a minute there. what did you do in the end?

well done:)

Whoops! Sorry, I ended up grinding about 1.5mm off the bottom of each strut. Not really enough to notice, but enough to make the whole assembly seat/sit better in my mind.

The collet is tightened to show barely 1mm of gap, which I'm happy with. The original one-piece shock tower bushes were tough to remove. Hopefully the Koni replacements (which don't really look it) are up to the task.

I'm finally getting around to installing my inserts and have the exact same issue. I can go ahead and grind some off of the end of the Koni but it seems like such a hack.

Is this a known issue with Koni inserts in Boge struts

Here's a pic of the fit:

Nobody has a definitive answer on this? Is that just the way Koni inserts fit in a Boge strut tube (with the 3mm gap)??
