I've got a minor problem; My defroster levers won't stay up. There's a little nut on the side of the levers and when I tighten it - it always loosens back up. Seems to me that it needs another nut on there to tighten down on that but I'm not sure. I figured that would be a good fix but I wondered it if was supposed to be there in the first place?
Anyone know?

maybe they aren't adj. right at the heater boxes? I'd check that - maybe the tension is pulling the levers down.

Rusted heater boxes? Corrosion in the sleeves of the cables?

Well, I guess I'll check the tension at the boxes - I just wasn't sure how tight the assembly between the seats should be as it seems loose to me and when I tighten it up it just loosens right back up pretty quickly.

"when I tighten it up it just loosens"... meaning when you pull the lever to its full extension it falls back down ?

try a new self locking nut, or get a couple of thin jamb-nuts.

Ditto on what JohnW said, it sounds like the lock nut is history. Try a new one, or get a punch and dimple the edge of the old nut, on one side of its face, so it deforms the nut into the thread area a little, it should then stay in place.
