Fat Bastard DE->worn treads->slippery->bloodshed!-Big booboo
I finally got some time to myself so, I took the Fat Pig Bastard Carrera to the track for a DE. It's been a long time since I was at a DE, and I wanted track time bad! Prepped the car last night, and loaded everything up this morning..
Running late as usual...got there just before (literally, w/in minutes) the first cars hit the track. First session, the brakes wouldn't hold up to the Fat Pig diving into the corners...did 4 or 5 laps and came in for an inspection...I knew what it would be...had brake fade and mushy pedal.... I checked the pads last night, and they had a good 1/2 of the thickness left...the PO had Super Blue in the lines and I bled the calipers. I figured I'd give the existing pads a shot..big mistake. The pads were some now performance something...must have been stock as there was a 911-###-### part number on it. Good thing I had a spare set of Ferodos for my other car. Pulled the old pads and put in the Ferodos..only problem was I left my punch at home to get the pins out! Checked around the paddock and found one I could borrow...that was the hard parts. Anyhow gave the calipers a good bleeding, and off I go to burn in the new pads..good! Good grab, good pedal... The rest of the day was perfect! As fat as the Pig is, I still had a blast! I ran in the slow group, but still managed to pass a few cars, incl. a 993 and another Carrera! Not bad for a rusty crusty dude like moi ![]() Left early (gave up one 20 minute session) as the track was wet, and I wanted to get home for some rest...crusty old dudes need rest. You are starting to wonder where the bad tread and blood shed comes right? Well hell! I had a great day at the track, got home in time for dinner and even got the trailer put away before the family came home... It was drizzling out, and I was walking around putting stuff away..when bam!!! The rubber lost traction, and I left a trail of blood...it hurt so bad I almost cried! Here is the Fat Pig Bastard, home from the DE: ![]() The old swine held up well and I think some mods will be needed...eventually ![]() And here is the blood scene: ![]() Look at those drops of my good blood! Now I'm all bandaged up: ![]() And here is how...remember boys..don't run slicks in the rain..and always wear closed toe shoes to the track..and when you get home too ![]() ![]() Last edited by MotoSook; 09-15-2004 at 06:00 PM.. |

Seriously, it is heavy...I tried to weigh it at a truck stop on my way home from the Gruppe B car show last weekend..after I winked and smiled at the girl at the truck stop, I sweet talked her into letting me put it on the scale..I must have screw up because when I went back into the station, she told me it was 1505 or something like that. WTF..(I didn't tell her that..I smiled!) I must have had one axle off the scale is all I can figure..do the math..that's heavy!
It even tows heavy...my poor Jeep was having a hard time keeping the needle at 75 MPH on the small hills we have here...never was a problem with the Bastard (original light flavor!). The big toe will be fine..nail lifted I think...was to scared to look at it ![]() It's a Hot Wheels bandaid! Dang camera over exposed it. |

Ouch! Man I can feel that from here! What are you using for a pull vehicle? Nevermind, you just answered it. You need to put the pig on a diet!

Those addidas look like they are shaved to 1/4 tread depth. You need some full depth rains.

I am way confused. Why was ther track wet, and why was there water on the ground when you got home? Must be a regional thing

The white duct tape I had over the glass lense was peeling off, Mike. The rain at the track and on the way home soaked it...but I think all the Carrera guys carry TP with them in their cars...in case a Gruppe B'er blasts by and clean up is necessary
