Cab Window Seal Replacement
 

Anyone replaced those vertical seals at the back of the side windows on a carrera cab? They seem to get pretty worn out looking from sun & weather and it would spruce up the car considerably to replace them.

I've done a search - but can find no discussion on this subject.

Any pointers on this?

For future reference of those performing a search under this topic...

The swap is a 10 minute job per side. No glue required. The seals sit inside of a steel frame that is secured to the edge of the cab top. Simply remove the four small nuts from the inside. I found a couple of them easier to get at with the top half way open.

Once the nuts are removed the frame will still be held in place with speed-nuts (small, thin guage threaded washers). Unless you are much more talented than me, you will need to pry the metal frame and seal away from the cab top - destroying the speed nuts in the process. I don't know how you would remove the speed-nuts otherwise. You will need to replace these with new speed-nuts - or do like me and use small washers instead.

Secure the new seal to the frame - reposition and resecure the frame to cab top with your new washers/speed-nuts and nuts.

Well the only problem is the cost:

$152.55 + $148.50 = $301.05 (via our hosts)

It ain't a cheap job.
