Tire Choices for street 930
It's getting close to tire purchase time for me and was wondering what a decent choice in Brand name/ style is best.
Car is a '79 930 that is basically street driven, some DE , and not much wet driving. Fuchs 7 x 16 and 9 x 16. Also , are deals from places like Tire Rack worth looking into ? There are major tire stores near me, however I usually only get their hype on what they want to sell .

I've got Yokohama AVS Intermediates on my street 930 wheels (stock Fuchs). When they wear out (soon), I'll be replacing them with Yokohama ES100's. They are sticky and inexpensive.
I get all my tires at TireRack. You may be able to get your local guys to match pricing.

Toyo Proxies would be a good choice, I had Yoko's and liked them. I've tryed Khumo's and don't know if I like them yet. (under 500 miles) I may try Bridgestone Potenza S03 next as a friend can get them for me cheap. Tire Rack may have a Tire test that would show you more details on a specific tire. It may come down to a sizing issue. I use 225/55 on front, and 245/45 on the rear. Also, speed rating and treadwear rating. It is a trade off, tires that grip better, wear faster. I get 8-10K on the rears, and almost 2X that on the front. I will never again get anything with less then a Z rating.

Somehow V rated tires (Dunlop) have been on the car since I changed out the old rear 8"s for 9"s. I don't know why I didn't insist on the Z rate at that time. I will also use the Z rating now.
Thx.

I've run S03's on my car with 8 and 9 fuchs. Although I run 17" with R compound tires on the track, I don't feel like I'm giving up alot with these. I use to have comp TA's that I could light up the back tires on any turn and a heavy right foot. These have much more grip.
