Numerous archives on subject however, I have an '86 Carrera that is in perfect condition with only 34,000 miles on it and which still has the original suspension. It just seems to me that an 18 year old shock must be worn by now even though the mileage is so low. The car feels sort of "loose" and not nimble as other Porsche's I have driven. I'm thinking of adding Sport Bilsteins all around and turbo tie rods. Do I need to change springs and torsion bars if I drive only on streets and no DE's? I'll pay the money if it makes sense to do the right upgrade. Since I only get to drive my car on weekends (work always gets in the way) I'm not concerned about a rougher ride if in return I get superior handling. In the future I would like to try tracking my car for the sole purpose of increasing my driving skills and learning what these cars are really capable of. I'm running 7's & 8's on factory Fuch's, SSI's and a Steve Wong chip. I know I can get the car to handle better. Just looking for some good advice as to where to put the money. If you had $2000.00 max to spend on a new suspension what would you suggest? Is this ample money to make a significant improvement over an 18 year old stock set up?
Thanks

Someone else will have to advise you re the springs & bars, however I think I read in some threads that a lot of the guys are using a combination of heavy duty and sport shocks.

I'd start with new susp bushings and the turbo tie rods.. then feel that out for a clearer idea of what's next.
