The side interior (dome) lights on my 77 911S (sunroof) will not go on. These are the "rocker" switch variety that I believe are either off always, on always, or on when door open, depending on where you position the rocker switch/lens. I pulled the assembly out and tested the leads (there are two in my case). I have twelve volts to ground at both leads. This conditon remains whether or not the door is open or closed on each lead. I know that typically in order for this to work I should have 12v on one wire and ground to the other. I'm wondering if in this case I should have twelve volts to both because there needs to be a constant 12v to one side for "always on, and a switched 12v on the other wire for on when door open. Can anyone send me in the right direction on fixing this? tia.

Ok-I now know that one side (unswitched) needs to be a constant 12v. The other side should be a switched ground/constant ground/no ground. I guess I'll have to open up the door switch to see why I'm getting 12v when I should just be getting a ground/open. Sound about right?

the lite case must be grounded to the cabin thru the end tab.. so the connection is enabled with proper placement to a clean roof.

Did you check the fuse?
Do the lights refuse to come on under all conditions? They will not work w/ the door opening unless they are in the center position. Did you check the switches located in the A pillars (in front of the door)?

The fuse is fine. It has power. It will work if I move the headliner material allowing for a proper ground, but the switched ground wire still is reading 12v. I'll check the door jam switch next. Thanks
