79 911 SC has been sitting off and on for a couple of years now and the abuse has taken its toll on the battery terminals.
The negative is salvagable, but also easily replaced. The positive one is apparently a bear to replace. Because of a PO's car alarm I'm going to lose 2-3 inches of the positive cable in order to put a new connector on. There's no slack in the cable and thus it will no longer reach the battery post. What exactly are my options? I've thought about rewiring it a bit and using a power distribution block as a bit of a patch. (That would also solve my amplifier woes when I get to the audio portion of my 911 experiment.) Any suggestions? (Also, anyone know the gauge of the big and small power leads that come off the battery?) |

Home store elec depts have a neat solid set screw style splice. I used one when I reconfigured the cables to fit the battery in the smugglers box. @ layers of large shrink wrap makes it look pro.
4/0 welding cable is the best. |

Connect the old positive wire (now too short) to one post on the switch and get a new cable from the other connection on the switch to the battery +. I think you can get both the switch and a bracket to hold it from TRE http://www.tremotorsports.com/Home.htm ![]()
