Rgruppe Carrera from across the Pond!

Started life as a 1974 Euro-spec 2.7 MFI Carrera and now...
Just got the carpets and door cards to do... Hope you like it!

Love the back-dating! What type/size (offset/backspace) Minilites are those KS? The fronts look slightly offest to the outside (maybe just the angle of the photo?). I'm in the process of ordering a set of the 15x6.5 new "Sport Wheels" and want to make sure the offset/backspacing is correct.

Sweet car. That plate style is illegal for '73 on cars though (I think) - you ever get stopped for it?

You're right - the fronts are a little odd. They were supposed to be factory offset (ET 23.3 with 112mm backspacing) but are clearly not! The "problem" appears to be that the Minilites' spokes are thicker, giving cause for caliper clearance issues, so Minilite gave them a little extra on the outside to gain clearance. I still had to run 2mm spacers to clear. I'm going to talk with Minilite to see if there is a way round this as I want the wheels but would like to see a little less outer rim... Of course, I may just simply use natural-finish Fuchs on the front with the Minilites on the back, factory rally-car style... Choices, choices.

Ssshhhh! At least the car now has a 1970 registration (RSR 888H is its new identity), so unless the Police are particularly observant and realise from the blacked out window trim that this is a '74 car, then I should be OK... Incidentally, I ran the car on black'n'silver plates even when it had an 'M' plate on it, to no ill effect.

I agree - it would be a break from "tradition"!

Ahhh, KS the car looks sweet! Love the paint job! What a long way that car has come. Tell us, what inspired the dramatic overhaul? I remember a 911& Porsche World story in 2002 where a similar but factory original 74 2.7 Carrera was on the cover. I wonder what that writer would say now? Maybe...."As good as a 67R........"
Remind me to speak to Cris about club standards however. I always thought that Curt and I were as low as he would sink........

As far as the Minilites go, I like how the TRE car has a contrasting center. Gives a bit of a seperation between the spokes and the rims. Of course we all know that they are simply American Racing wanna-be's anyway!
