911SC fuel distributor Part number
I am trying to determine the CIS fuel distributor on my 79 911SC.
I had located 2 sets of numbers on the CIS fuel distributor housing on a metal plate attached on the front. What I would like to know is if it was a European distributor or even if it belongs on my 3.0 liter engine. The car was rebuilt before I purchased it and frankly I don't know what is on the car. Here are the numbers I found......can anyone tell me the engine size and country of origin this belongs to? 0 438 100 031 (first number) 060 618 465 921 (second number sequence below first) Thakns in advance |

fredmeister,
I have my Bosch info at work, I will look it up for you tomorrow and try and figure it out. I just helped out 930guy on a different thread with ignition distributors, hopefully I can get you squared away as well. Please be patient and I'll let you know what I find tomorrow. Ralph P.S. - The first number (0.438.100.031) is the original Bosch part number. The second number won't mean anything for us. |

Fredmeister,
Okay, got the Bosch info out and can confirm that Bosch part number 0.438.100.031 is the original fuel distributor for 78 & 79 3.0L SC models in the US. For model years 81-83, the Bosch part number was changed to 0.438.100.077. I don't have access to the European Bosch info, so I can't tell you if your fuel distributor was also used in ROW (rest of world) models. It looks to me like you have the correct U.S. spec fuel distributor for your 79 model year. Regards, Ralph |

From another thread:
Up to June of 1980 (3.0 @138KW) the Euro Fuel Distributor carried the Bosch Part #s: New - 0438100031 Rebuilt - 0986438031 From July '80 through July '83 (3.0 @ 150KW): New - 0438100097 Rebuilt - 0986438097 I broke my Fuel Distributer!

You guys are great......thanks so much for the info.
Ralph, I read the post last night about the distributor info and was counting on you to respond to my dilemma.....thanks for spending time to check that out for me......of course this leads to further questions (see below) Rick, the info on Euro cars from 78-79 appears to be no different than the US version at 138kW=181hp. Does that mean that the 1980 and later cars were only increased to 150kW=201hp? I thought that Euro cars of all years were rated higher at more like 162kW or 217hp? Either way, does anyone know the difference in the fuel delivery of the 1979 versus 1980 fuel distributor, since they have 2 different part numbers. Is it more beneficial to have one versus the other if looking to max out performance of the CIS? My 79 911SC is slightly modified with 964 cams and SSI with Bursch exhaust. Plus I have oversize intake valves with a little head porting. Looking to monkey with the CIS to get max power, but so far have not tried since am looking for feedback on specific fuel pressures to aim for in terms of warm running, system supply, and control pressures to get a better 13to1 A/F ratio for max power. Trying to do this without paying big bucks for lots of dyno time until I know I am close and can then only tweak ignition timing and little stuff to dial it in on the dyno. Any hard numbers like that to have me try out? So far my system supply pressure comes in a little low at 4.3bar when it should be in the range of 4.5-5.2bar. Everything else is in allowable ranges according to factory manuals.

Fredmeister,
Unfortunately, I don't have the hard data as to what the various fuel distributors actually put out. I will try and give you some more part number information to chew on. These are Porsche part numbers, not the Bosch number that you provided previously. USA/Canada models 911 110 967 00 fits 78-79 USA/Canada & 78-80 Euro models. Engine codes as follows: 930.03 - European 930.04 - USA/Canada 930.05 - Japan 930.06 - California 930.09 - European 930.15 - Sportomatic This should be the unit you have. 911 110 971 00 fits 80-83 USA/Canada models. Engine codes as follows: 930.07 - USA/Canada 930.08 - Japan 930.16 - USA/Canada 930.17 - Japan Finally, 911 110 977 00 fits 81-83 Euro models. Engine code as follows: 930.10 - European I hope this extra info doesn't confuse you, and I am sorry that I cannot provide the specs of each. Ralph |
