Funny email thread at work with Vette Head
One of the girls at work sent a small video (non-US cig commercial I think) around where a guy in a ferrari gets knocked out by a gate at the exit of a garage because he's watching a skirt. The thread started by me and a Boxster driving buddy follows.
Just a word to set this up. The Vette head has a long mullet that he keeps in a rubber band like a little tail. He's also been spotted at a restaurant scratching his foot inside his sock with the non business end of his fork in the middle of a meal that required the use of said fork. He's not a bad guy, just a real work of art. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ From: girl Sent: Wednesday, 01 September, 2004 11:57 To: Subject: FW: typical male Is this you?????? DON’T LIE…….. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Steve Masraum (me) Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 11:59 AM To: Subject: RE: typical male Nope, I had a Porsche, not a ferrari. ;o) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Porsche buddy Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 11:59 AM To: Subject: RE: typical male That’s what I said -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Vette Head Sent: Wednesday, 01 September, 2004 13:09 Subject: RE: typical male It doesn’t matter any way, “Real Men” drive Corvettes, or Vipers!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Steve Masraum (me) Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 1:32 PM Subject: RE: typical male Real men drive miata's because they don't have anything to prove. Besides, anybody can mash the right pedal. Little girls and old ladies can go fast in Vettes and Vipers. ;^) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Vette Head Sent: Wednesday, 01 September, 2004 14:09 Subject: RE: typical male Only until they have to stop or go around a corner, as far as the right pedal, how many are “Real Man” enough to hold it there until the Speedo reads 170, something a “Miata” would only do if it was being towed behind a F-16, and last but not least Miata owners own one because they are afraid of the REAL TORQUE and Horsepower! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Steve Masraum (Me -- Trying to lighten it up some) Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 2:16 PM Subject: RE: typical male hahahaha I hit redline in 5th in the 911, that's 150, just won't go any faster without changing the gearing. Hit 140-145 once with the top off. Pretty darn cool. One of these days I wanna drive something that'll do 200+. You're right, the miata gearing runs out at 140, but it'll only hit 120 without adding a turbo/supercharger. One of these days I'll have to plop down a couple of grand for one of those. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Vette Head Either that or just buy A Real Car! If I had a Super Charger, mine would do 210, based on the current 4.10 gears, .5 to 1 ratio in 6th gear, 285-30-ZR18’s it cruises now 70 MPH @ 1950 RPM. 170 is as far as I have had it, it will get to 155 pretty fast but starts running into the horsepower wall after that. Oh yeah, did I mention that all brakes suck from 170! You can get one good stop from 155 to 0, and then you will need a parachute to stop!!!! Not bad seeing as how you can get 27 MPG, 12.95 ET 1/4 mile, 170 MPH top end, pull near 1G on the Skid Pad, and pass emissions. You can have all of this for less than 12 grand, although I paid 16,300 for a 1992 Convertible with 63,000 miles, but you can get into a nice Coupe for around 8K if you really look hard. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Them fellas with the penis substitute seem kinda touchy about their penis extension. ![]() That's why us Porsche drivers drive such little cars, no need for an extension. hahaha

Vettes.
Even the Miata's better looking, on top of being a better car.

Well, I'm not completely down on Vettes, I like the C6 and whatever they are calling the new versions' looks, and they do offer an amazing bang for the buck. I love the thrust of a SBC, but my heart belongs to Porsche.

Um, how does a '92 Vette run 170mph and high 12s?
Surely his is worked. I doubt a stocker could get much lower than high 14s... Unless his has an LT5 or something... or was previously owned by some guy named Lingenfelter.

The wife has a 66 Stingray convertible ('vert in the Vette world) and it's fun to feel the CRAZY torque of that engine, but once you hit a curve in the road: YIKES!!!! It's a straight line rocket, but a street sweeper could take it in the twisties!

My dad had an '82 that seemed to stick pretty darn well, he scared me a time or two when I was younger, but I couldn't really compare it to my '88 for handling
