SEQUENTIAL Dizzy for 911

I was talking to a EFI distributor this week while ordering a Gen VII DFI ECU and were chatting about resolution. I mentioned that being a concern with the 930 owners looking to go EFI. He said a solution was being made by ACCEL in that they were adapting their sequential phased distributor technology to 911's. This sounds like a hot ticket for those wishing to circ. the Electromotive alternative.

For those out of the loop, it allows the ignition to time the camshaft timing with crankshaft. This allows the EFI to pulse sequentially in relation to the four stroke cycle.

I just found the technology promising and wanted to bring it up so that others could evaluate it and play devils advocate. I'm just glad that a mainstream ignition company is still paying attention to our "old" engines.

Really, no thoughts or opinions?

I was surprised that they were making a dizzy for the 911 also. Must be some Accel exec who encouraged that, otherwise it seems kind of random, though the marketing potential is certainly there.
They don't really advertise the 911 dist. and they've had it awhile. I think Eric Hood (pelican handle: Strokher Racing) is using one on his monster engine.
I'm considering going a similar route so that I can run seq. probabaly with autronic. A couple of the hard core 930 efi guys who have been installing efi for a few years are very hohum about it because they have been modifying distributors to do this for a while. It's certainly nice though to have a company like accel producing a "new off the shelf" item. I may go that route so that I can save my old dist. for when back-dating 930's to CIS becomes the rage;)
