Shift rod bushing/weld build-up
Did anyone ever encounter a sloppy weld at the end of the shift rod which disallows sliding off the round bushing for replacement? I'm wondering if this is common from factory or if this was a repair by previous owner at some point. I am going to grind it down (cant' get it out of tunnel without removing transmission and sliding through shift input shaft hole at rear of tunnel, so should be real fun while it is still in the tunnel). Just wondering.

This is a repair, a common place for them to crack, I think they did this not because the tube was expensive but because you had to remove the engine to replace it.

Thanks anyway. I ended up grinding the welds down flush with the rod convex and bushing slid right off. Not the easiest job working in a 2 1/4" space but is do-able.
