Steve,
I have been having similar problems with my EW and ESR in my '71 911. While you press the switch/es , try jiggling the ignition key in its switch a little. I need a new ignition switch. Cheers, Dennis. ![]()

There's also a circuit that allows the use of the windows and sunroof after you have shut the car off, but before you open the doors. That may be suspect as well.

Also, if you have done any work under the dash behind the instrument cluster there are several firewall plugs mounted on the firewall. If you knock one of them loose you will loose random things and the fuses and relays will all be ok. They are a bear to get to and you will need a good light to see them. I almost lost my mind after adding a boost gage where my clock was and then lost one turn signal one window one headlight etc.
