Bosch blue coil
I've heard that a blue Bosch coil is supposed to be better than other Bosch coils, i.e. a black one. Is there any validity to this? Does it throw a hotter spark with more volts?
And my real question is, are all Bosch blue coils the same? For example, if I had a Bosch blue coil that was on a VW bug engine, could this be installed on my Porsche with out any ill effects? I'm on crutches right now so I can't go dig the coil out of my attic and check to see if the part # might be the same as the blue coils I see used on Porsches. |

So apparently the blue coil is a no-go. |

My bosch blue coil works perfect on my CDI on my SC.
but, this has been covered many times as Tom said. Some say it won't work, some have used it and had it work. Perhaps you can guess which side I am on.

Since the 6-pin BOSCH CDI module is about $ 1400.00 to replace, I would stay with OEM black. The 3-pin is less $.

Not true! A coil is a coil is a coil. The KEY difference for a CDI ignition is the turns ratio. Some blue Bosch coils have a 200 to one turns ratio as used on the '70s M/B cars. The CDI ignition should have about a 100 to one ratio. Check out this web site ( www.systemsc.com ) on the Technical page under Ignition Systems for more info.
