He went to get the paperwork and his internet sales partner had sold it to another person out of state while I was on the test drive. Since he did it on Ebay the owner of the dealership would not sale me the car since the ebay buyer would likely leave negative feedback. Needless to say I was pissed. What can you do???

Anyone know where an affordable 993TT is. Meaning less that 60K.

Its a shame you did not get this car, maybe its for the best.

But I will say, if the dealer had sold YOU the car and the E-bay buyer was a member of this board and he was pissed and aired it here.
The dealer would be getting the same remarks. (they can't win).

Did you offer a deposit on the car before you made a 3 hr. drive?
That would have solved the problem.

no. That was my mistake. The Auction didn't have a buy it now when I left and I had arranged the Friday before and called prior to coming down so I didn't think to put down a deposit. lesson learned for me.

Basically the car was for sale through two venues - and it sold through one. Not to sound flippant, but that's the way it goes.

EBay is OFTEN used as a showcase to display cars which are then sold offline. Not good for you, and this part is truly shady --- but I have seen it done many times on the 6 years I have been on EBay. Plus EBay allows one to pull auctions for any old dumb reason.

Kerry,

1. Sorry, but I was the one who bought the car. Hope things are ok.
2. Look for another one and move on. At least what was swiped under you was just a car. Just imagine if it were a house. Houses here get bids, and outbids, between your hearbeats.

p.s.,
#1 is a not true. Also, I always have my eyes open for same car profile as you currently are pursuing.

Problem is you didn't sign the dotted line before someone else did. You are very lucky to be able to pursue a 993TT. I really wish I had your problem. ;) While the 993TT isn't a dime a dozen, there is plenty of them for sale, all generally in similar shape.

Good Luck!

George

I've moved on. I'm now on the pursuit again and will try not to make the same mistakes.

I actually ended up buying a '91 Turbo. Thanks for the link though

aigel 09-14-2004 05:08 PM

Very good choice. I'd take a C2 turbo over a 993 any day. While I think the C2 looks anemic in its narrow version, the tubo is a beaut. Congrats! And now, where are the pics???
