Question on upshift light

People have said a lot about taking out the bulb, or putting a crest/tape/naked photo over it, but what about a different possibility?

Why not make it useful, and get in there (wherever "there" is) to change its input, and have it come on at 5500 or 6000 (or whatever) RPM?

What do you think?

One thing you could do is to connect it to your "charging/handbrake" light bulb wiring. This way if your fanbelt came off you might see two small lights sooner than just one...

I just covered mine up...

According to the manual it does this. (CASIS)

The light does do this as previously posted. But a long time ago I removed one wire from the speedo that removed the annoying shift light to come on at 1500rpm (or whatever it wanted to do so that you could save gas). I think this modification was covered in one of the PCA UpFixin' books. So the light only comes on now about 6100 or 6200 rpm, somewhat just before the rev limiter will kick in.

...and another thing...

...has anyone figured out how to disable the annoying buzzer that sounds every time the door opens with the keys in, and when you first enter the car (seat belt reminder?)

This is really easy - the buzzer is controlled by a relay in the trunk area, near the speedo/tach if I remember correctly. With the key in and the door open (buzzer going), just reach in, find the offending relay and pull it out. Voila - no more buzzing.

How about reposting the procedure here? This is the definitive source for information. I would like to do the same, change it so that it comes on at a higher RPM. Really don't feel like searching the whole net to figure it out. I'll just leave it be....
