Late model air cooled performance cam specs

Anybody know what a good source for late model performance cams is, like 964 and 993 RS, Super Sport, RSR, GT2 Evo, etc. It would be great if I could get duration@.050", lift, and lobe sep, but I'll take what I can get.

Thanks in Advance!

Call Web cams and ask them for specs, they should send or fax the info you want on their grinds.

I'm not sure they will want to send me specs on the factory grinds, which is what I'm interested in. They list specs for their own grinds on their webpage, but not for the factory grinds.

Perhaps I haven't looked closely enough, but these specs don't seem to be in either BA's performance handbook or Paul Frere's 911 story, but I don't have the latest edition of the 911 story. I could only find the standard 993 and 964 cam specs in that book.

Andy,

Not sure if this is what you're after but it might be on.

Thanks chris,

Elgin lists street grinds and older race grinds, but not newer RS+ grinds like I mentioned above. John (camgrinder) probably has the data, but I'm not sure if he'd like to share it with everyone or not. If Elgin have obtained these cams and degreed them by hand, these specs represent significant work on their part. I am just trying to learn more about what was done with the later performance cams.

You might want to post this question in the Engine Rebuilding forum, "camgrinder", AKA John at Elgin Cams posts there regularly.

Good point, Tom. I thought this post would get more visibility here but sometimes it's 1 or 2 specific people.

Thanks!

I think that Wayne's book also lists the basic specs as well as BA's book.

KobaltBlau 09-09-2004 04:39 PM

BA's book does not list the 964 RS 3.8 or 993 RS specs, unless I am looking in the wrong place. I'm also curious if there is any timing difference 993RS vs 993SS. Bill said they are similar, but I'd love to see numbers. I do realize that the RS is for hyd. lifters and the SS is not.

I've been meaning to get a copy of wayne's book, maybe the specs are in there.

Wayne pretty much stopped w/ the 3.2 Carrera specs
Andial has a fair listing

Smart Racing also used to have some data dunno if it's still there. You can usually get the data directly from the cam grinders. Both WebCam and Elgin have been very helpful.

Thank you, Bill, that helps. I guess the Andial duration specs are at 1mm, I don't think they say. John Dougherty has been very helpful to me as well.
