911 Speaker Sizes
Hi All,
I have an '80 SC Coupe and would like to replace all four speakers this weekend. Are they a really unusual size or can I just remove them and take them to a sound shop and match them up? Thanks, Sebastian Gaeta

They shouldn't be unusual - I think the front's are 5 1/4" and the back are 4 1/2" by 6 1/2" - I am actually going to clean up my speaker wiring this weekend if I have time, I will let you know.

I just replaced mine today with 4 Alpine Coaxil speakers. Made a HUGE difference with my Blaupunkt. Above sizes are not correct, at least for an 87. I used Factory grills in the rear. Took 30 minutes.

You can relatively easily fit 6.5" speakers in the front doors. They just can't be real deep speakers.

Oops, Richard you are correct about the size of the front speaker, at least in an 87. They are 6.5 in front, 4x6 in rear, fit perfect in factory holes.
My old speakers had dry rotted, imagine that. I replaced the front factory ones about 9 years ago with JBLs, which were now cracked. The rear 18 yo factory speakers (Blaupunkt) and were incredibly primitive and deteriorated.
