sport exhaust - can I short the exhaust pipes?

Hey Guys,

I have a 911T 2.2 with sport exhaust . Wondering if its possible, and if anyone has shortened the exhaust pipes. They are very long. Any changes in performance/sound with shortening?

Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks

Andy

OK what color is that? I like it. So bright and vibrant.

Yes you can shorten them. It will change the tone a bit. Some people have used 5". There was a thread on this a while ago. Try to search for "cut* OR trim AND sport muffler"

If you do shorten consider using a chain based pipe cutter. It will leave a very nice, clean cut that can be finished easily. Most garages use them.

Yes you can. I cut 8" off my pipes and finished them off with some chrome pipe covers. I did not notice a whole lot of change in sound. Nice color!

Andy,

Just wacked 6 inches off of my tips. At idle it will sound a bit deeper/throatier. I found a pipe cutter at Lowes that adjusted to 2 1/8 inch max. Pipe is 2 inches. Took about 10 minutes.

Good luck,
