It's Intervention Time

All of you, in the entire grand Pelican nation, listen up. Anyone of you who owns a 911, and is thinking of selling, don't even consider it. I will hunt you down like the dog you are, and this is for your own good mind you, and put upon you whatever punishment is necessary for you to realize the err of your ways. I don't care about your reasoning; bankruptcy, divorce, new baby(SmileWavy ), it doesn't matter, no excuse is good enough. You will discover withdrawl that makes quitting smoking crack look as appealing as sex. You may tell yourself, I'll just get a German 4 door, maybe an Audi (;) ), it'll be close enough. NOOOOOOOO! You will be doomed to a life of unhappiness, spending countless hours browsing 911 classifieds, asking yourself WHY?

*These are not the words of a sane man, just one who misses his car and is bored at work. Anybody need, say, a kidney or something?

VaSteve 09-10-2004 10:41 AM

Heh heh. Miss it that bad huh Matt?

Schrup 09-10-2004 10:48 AM

Nice to hear from you Matt, hope you get another real soon. At this point my wife probable wishes I would sell mine, but I keep telling her that it's cheaper than smoking crack (lie). ;)

I was there brother! I sold my 79SC due to my son being born....too impractical...NOT! I lasted almost a year before I bought my 80SC.... Even daily doses of Pelican could not provide the fix I needed. Good luck man...

I have a grand plan though guys, I'm going back to school in the spring in aerospace engineering, talk about the limits you go to for your addiction.:p

I just sold my Cabriolet and every time I think about it, I feel like I got kicked in the cojones. Except that the cojones are the size of those of the fella in that video on the OT board.

Woe!

crisis..pics included

Matt,
Dang....just when a 951 sounds too cool as far as power, balance, creature cpomforts etc...you had to post that! I'll admit mine is on the classifieds, but I just took these pics...makes me wonder if a 951 can compare? Any thoughts from other Pelicans that have gone through this crisis? Turbo power...it's like crack...one hit of boost and you are hooked...

BB80SC - Brad,

There are two sides to every coin. Your loss was my gain. Thanks for your momentary weakness!

Hey, It could be worse, you could have sold an early car!!!:)

Jesset100 09-10-2004 04:30 PM

Konish, How much?

onewhippedpuppy 09-10-2004 05:12 PM

Konish, very nice. What do you think of Ben's car? Have you driven a 951 yet?
Just a word to the wise about me selling my car, I am what happens when your enthusiasm gets ahead of your bank account. I had $7500 to spend on a 911 as a daily driver, and about $1500 back for the $hit that did happen. Pretty soon the money was gone, I had a baby, and I just couldn't justify spending more that I didn't have on a car. When I should have waited to save up a couple thousand more, I bought a '70 911T, not the best choice for a daily driver anyway, and it was by no means like new. Regardless, if you don't have the money to spare, wait until you do, it's advice I should have listened to, but didn't. On a happier note, here's a few kid pics and a photo of my poor ass substitute for my 911.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094865041.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094865096.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094865151.jpg

Awesome kid Matt. You got a good deal. How many people would give their car and a gonad for a healthy child? Is there any way you can afford a 944 beater to keep the withdrawal symptons to a minimum? It is a 4-seater...more than a 911...sorta. Maybe even a project car? Even if it doesn't run you can still dream (late at night when no one is watching, go out there and go "vroom").

vash 09-10-2004 05:25 PM

matt, waiting for your return. remember when our car's were trying to kill us by just going bad?

i will never forget your, "my car is fighting back" thread.
great kid! very cute, you and your wife must be proud as heck.

Been there

I had to sell my '97 speed yellow C4S when I had my first. My wife actually begged me to buy another Porsche less than a year later. She would catch me talking to my daughter about 911's and how I can't wait to take her for a ride one day. I bought my '86 last March. I doubt anybody would feel that way about a WRX - sorry cheap shot.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094866481.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094866511.jpg

vash 09-10-2004 05:37 PM

well matt, looks like we are forming a strategy. talk to the little guy about 911's non-stop. and every time 9:11 shows up on the clock do a jig with him. she will have one wrapped up by Christmas. get a BIG tree.

konish 09-10-2004 05:45 PM

Matt,
Kids a cutie! I only received one pic from Ben so far, but he said more will be coming if his deal falls through on Sunday. Again, I am no hurry to do anything. I have driven a 951 and I couldn't believe how hard they pull...actually I felt it out performed a friends 5.0 Mustang by a long margin, and the handling can't even compare. The 911 is basically a toy. I have a daily driver mini sport ute I bought new when I got back from Japan in 2001. Actually, I owned a 1973 911T in college, several 914's and a 944 before I bought my SC. I'm deeply in love with the car, but I have to admit it felt, well, a little tired after driving that balls to the wall 951.

Tonight my wife almost begged me not to sell the SC...said she likes it although she has never even had a chance to ride in it yet! I do have to admit that after taking pictures and imagining a different car in the garage the whole idea makes me feel a bit guilty about even thinking about getting rid of it.

Jesset,
Just curious? I have placed no particular value to the car...the market is what the market is. I will say that there is NO way I'd even think of selling for less than $12-13K depending on how melancholy I feel...less and the car stays and I'll be just as happy...

Who knows...a SWEET 951 as part of a SWEET deal would probably make me sway but I'm not going to hold my breath...nor am I going to simply give my car away just to scratch that turbo itch.
