Spark Plug Socket Size

Hi again folks!

I've searched the other entries on the forum and have found some answers but want to make sure.

I want to remove the plugs on my 69 911T but need to know the socket size as I don't have the original tool kit. I have read on other posts, for later 911's that it is 13/16.

Does anyone know if this is the same for the 69?

I'm a newbie to the mechanics of Porsche but have done plug carb and valve work on my bikes before. (rice rockets).

Any confirmation would be appreciated.

Also, for doing valve clearances, I am assuming that I need to remove the side covers where the plugs are to access them, is this correct?

Thanks
Jim

Jim.

The original tool is great. Try and find on as it is worth its weight in gold.

Were in Ontario are you?

Hi Randy

I'm in London.

P.S. Still looking for confirmation on adjusting my valve clearances. I am assuming I need to remove the covers where the plugs are located, but want to know for sure...

Randy;

If you know of any good get togethers or runs in the S/W Ontario areas, let me know. I'd love to get together with other Porschephiles.

Hi Jim.

I too am new to this game however I've learned much from this forum and reading books since getting my car in January.

A good reference book is the ''101 Projects for your 911'' by Wayne Dempsey. This book gives info on simple tasks like oil changes right up to engine rebuilding.

The Upper Canada Porsche Club has various activities. Here is their site. http://www.pcaucr.org/pcaucr/site/home.jsp

If you need any info, feel free to e-mail me directly. randyrap@cogeco.ca .

thanks ................................... Randy
