Oil Leak on 79 Sc

I have a slight oil leak on the front passenger side of my engine. Most noticable after driving. Oil smoke when the engine is shut off. I assume this is dripping on the heat exchanger. Would this be the oil return line fitting or something more sinister.

It could be from a couple of places, but probably nothing sinister. You may want to refer the Pelican Techncial Info section:

Hee hee TurboBert: What Oil Leak?

356Six, I'd get under the car and have a look. If it is a bit oily under there give it a clean with a degreaser to make it easier. Err, us guys with SCs don't mind a bit of oil leaking now and then.

Good suggestion - degreaser first. I don't know if I can afford anymore oil drops. My yard is going to be classified a hazardous waste site with a harley and to p-cars marking their territory.

Syracuse, wow, I didn't notice before. What an interesting bit of the country. I love all those places from Buffalow to NYC. I did a trip through those towns years ago and had a great time. And so much modern history around that area, origional Edison. GM, IBM...

If it's like mine, the couple of drops mine would drop after a drive all but stopped when I used the car more....

If it's like most of our cars, it's nothing sinister. Check valve cover gaskets and oil return tubes. It's not unusual for mine to have a small oil puddle after letting them sit for awhile.

Bill,

And don't forget Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, French's, Carrier, Corning Glass, Watkins Glen, lots of wineries, and about half a dozen Frank Lloyd Wright houses...
